Present: Anne, Fiona, Alistair, David, John
Apologies: Tim
Minutes of previous meeting: Approved
Correspondence: 2 letters from members: Dr. Lesley Evans (Porlock), supporting nuclear future (for publication in WLN); Tom McArthur (Lockerbie) expressing concern about windfarm proliferation and seeking support. Alistair has passed it on to John but possibly not for publication.
Scottish Executive Landscape paper: As a member of a LINK group David has had a meeting with the minister, Rhona Brankin, who was sympathetic about our concerns over renewables. On 9th March David is to attend SNH/Executive workshop at Battleby. There are concerns about possible deletion of NSAs from National Parks (until NPs can prove themselves capable of protecting landscape). Alistair to do response to paper.
Reay Forest hydro scheme(s): Alistair has written to the consultants (ASH) to explain our position and inform them that we would object on grounds of landscape damage in an unspoilt area. It was noted that the Whin Rigg (Cumbria) scheme has been recommended for refusal by the Public Inquiry.
