24th May 2003 This year we are to meet in Fort Augustus in order to view the sites proposed for renewable energy schemes in the vicinity.
On Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th May, the Steering Team will be camping at
Fort Augustus Caravan & Camping Park,
1km south of Fort Augustus town centre on A82.
On the 24th May we are to visit the proposed site of the Farr wind-farm. The walk will be led by Dr. James Fenton. Rendezvous at the above campsite at 10am, or at 11pm at the road junction 1km south of Farr on B851 (OS sheet 26, Grid Ref 678316). In the evening we shall meet for a bar meal at 6pm in the Lovat Arms Hotel, Fort Augustus. This will be followed by a brief AGM, then an informal discussion on the impact of renewable energy projects on the landscape. On Sunday 25th May, we may possibly walk to Glendoe to view the site of the proposed hydro-electric scheme. Please come for the whole weekend or just part of it, but it would help us to estimate numbers if you could let our Coordinator know in advance if you intend to join us (email Alistair Cant). |
